MAKER: davies strives with all his mortal might to take some of the endless stuff laying around in the world that nobody uses and turn it into stuff that people do use.  MAKER: davies also strives to make the things he makes strong and functional and beautiful.

Hi, I'm Luke, the Davies in MAKER:daviesI mostly work with salvaged wood and I mostly work with my hands, a drill, a power sander, a plane, a chisel and a skill saw.

I prefer to do custom building with repurposed materials for three reasons:

1. It saves you money because you don't need to buy new material (which is ridiculously over priced) and I don't have to pay extra to store or sell any of my stuff.

2. It is another way to live your life without having to extract, manufacture or purchase new natural resources.

3. It's a really good way to uncover and create new stories...which "new" stuff can't do.

I was a teacher and an artist long before my carpentry skills developed; I get to know each client like a new student and I approach each piece like I would approach a new work of art. This creative and interactive process results in very unique and striking furniture that is sturdy, long lasting and - most importantly - meaningful to my clients..

This is what I build: Harvest Tables, Coffee Tables, Console Tables, Counters and Counter Tops, Bookshelves, Benches, Beds, Desks, Fences/Gates, Built-In Units, Small Toy Houses and I will figure out how to make just about anything else you have in mind.
